Omu Rice

Main Course No Comments »

Had an omu-rice meal in Hong Kong. This is the yummiest meal I had during my stay there. :)

From Wikipedia:

Omurice, sometimes spelled “omu-rice” , is a contemporary Japanese dish consisting of an omelet made with fried rice. Its name is a wasei-eigo (Japanese portmanteau) of the French word omelette and the English word rice. It is a popular dish both commonly cooked at home and can be found at many western style diners and izakaya restaurants in Japan. It is also a popular dish in many restaurants in South Korea and Taiwan.[1]

The dish typically consists of chicken rice (rice pan-fried with ketchup and chicken) wrapped in a thin sheet of fried egg. The ingredients that flavor the rice vary. Often, the rice is fried with various meats (but typically chicken) and/or vegetables, and can be flavored with beef stock, ketchup, demi-glace white sauce or just salt and pepper. Sometimes, the rice is replaced with fried noodles, yakisoba, instead of fried rice, to make omusoba.

Food Search Engine

I love food. That’s the reason I put up this website since I want to experiment and taste different kinds of food. And especially during payday, me and my friends are always excited to look for a restaurant that we’ve never been to before.

So, I bumped with Cafe San Diego site as I do one my searches online. It’s like Google, but only this time it’s a search engine for restaurants. How cool is that? And how convenient would that be to restaurant lookers like me? You can actually search the site according to cuisine that you like, neighborhood, atmosphere or some special features that you are looking.. and voila, they will then give you a San Diego restaurant list according to your specification.

I know it’s only for San Diego restaurants, but, what I want to say is, this is really a very smart idea! I want to create a service like this one too. =)

What’s HOT this summer?

In this scorging heat, I crave for Halo-Halo. And my favorite is Chowking Halo Fiesta with 1 ice cream scoop.

Oh, where’s the ice cream scoop, I thought I ordered one. Nahhh..I think I forgot to tell the waiter I want an ice cream. :D

Dark Chocolates, Anyone?

Chocolate No Comments »

I love chocolates. Especially dark chocolates though thankfully, I don’t crave for chocolates now as much as before. Want to know how I did it? All you need to do is fill your refrigerator with chocolates and eat as much as you can, and tomorrow, you will see that you don’t have any appetite for them anymore. Atleast, that works for me. :) So, you may want to try it sometime especially if you want to stop your cravings.

But, surprisingly, dark chocolates have health benefits too. Read the article below:

The Health Benefits Of Dark Chocolates

It is rare that eating chocolate is recommended for health reasons. However, quite surprisingly, dark chocolate is said to contain antioxidants that benefit your body when eaten properly.

People often refer to dark chocolate as “bittersweet” chocolate. It contains roughly 70% cocoa solids and has less or no sugar added.

Since it has less or no sugar, dark chocolate is far less susceptible to heat than milk chocolate.

Some recent studies suggest that eating dark chocolate provides your body with essential antioxidants that could help with getting rid of free radicals that cause premature aging.

Other studies indicate that another benefit of dark chocolates is it could help with lowering bad cholesterol oxidation and reduce the risk of blood clots.

The primary reason why dark chocolate have these benefits is the flavonoids it contains. A flavonoid is a ketone that one can also find in the stems, seeds, and leaves of several plants. These flavonoids are members of a class of antioxidants called polyphenols, which are also found in red wine, tea, and certain fruits and vegetables.

It is estimated that dark chocolate contains eight times the levels of polyphenol antioxidants when compared with strawberries.

More studies have indicated that there are reduced benefits eating dark chocolate antioxidants if it were taken with milk or if milk were part of the dark chocolate mixture. It is believed that the molecules of milk adhere themselves to the epicatechins and prevent the proper assimilation of the flavonoids by the body.

Not all studies favor dark chocolates. Concerns have been raised about the possibility of dark chocolate inducing migraine attacks. However, data to fully support those concerns is still insufficient.

In addition to being a pleasure on the palate, consuming fifty grams of dark chocolate made of at least 70 percent chocolate solids could provide health benefits and supplement your diet with additional iron, potassium, and calcium.

Atleast chocolates did good for my health :)

Cream n’ Bake

My second time to dine at Cream n’ Bake and I would say that I appreciate their food more now than the first time. They have this unique taste in their food, and even have the original taste of sisig. The kinilaw is superb too! Check out the pix below…

Yep, their food is almost perfect, but, their service is not. You have to wait for 89 years before they will serve your food. Exaggerated, but, more or less, you get it. So, they better improve their service, or yet, they will lose their customers. Actually, they don’t only serve dinner and lunch, but they are also known of their cakes, cookies, ice cream and breads. But, I haven’t tasted those products yet. But, their cakes surely looks tempting!

I was about to take pictures of all their products displayed, but, the staff said it’s not allowed. They are probably afraid that I am one of the spies of their competitor. Hehehe. But, when I told the staff that I own a website, and would love to promote their business, she then hurriedly gave me the brochure instead. I think the owner was just around the corner and heard our conversation. :)

A Drink This Summer!

Fruits, Juice No Comments »

Philippines is just simply blessed for the abundance of mango fruits. Many tourists knew and tasted mango only when they arrived here, and fell in love with this juicy fruit. And personally, this is my favorite fruit too. :) And since it’s summer time, my refrigerator is full of different juice flavors and of course, I wouldn’t miss mango juice for that. Though a mango shake would be great, but, with my on the go schedule, I doubt if I will have the luxury to make one for myself. And besides, I don’t have a blender in my apartment. Heheh. So, instead, I just buy those bottled mango juice available in the supermarket. And no, I just don’t pick anything. My favorite is the Mango Nectar of Drysdale though, it’s a little bit pricey for me. I also love the Mango bits in can.

Below is the picture of my stocks of Drysdale Mango juice, fresh from my refrigerator.

It’s simply a refreshing drink! And you must drink it cold!
